good neighbor
with its distinctive silhouette, the new biogena headquarter sets a striking accent at the city entrance. at the same time, the staggered building volume integrates harmoniously into the urban space and responds sensitively to the surrounding environment. the stepped design exposes and highlights the existing pavilion and mature trees. the southern terraces and the floating wooden structure establish a flowing connection between the building and the landscape.

inviting ground floor
the transparent base opens up to the urban space, inviting visitors into the new biogena world. following the sloping terrain, the design creates attractive spatial sequences with integrated seating steps and varying room heights between 3.8m and 6.8m. the spaces transition seamlessly from reception to café, shop and art gallery. the diagnostic area on the gallery offers additional privacy.

modular structure
the constructive system optimally leverages the advantages of hybrid timber construction with column spans of 7m x 8.4m or 4.2m. in the basement and ground floor, a reinforced concrete structure with an 8.4m grid allows for an open floor plan and visually lifts the upper building volume above the transparent base zone. the upper floors are implemented in pure timber construction, featuring timber columns and ribbed timber ceilings with a 4.2m grid.

green terraces
the accessible rooftop landscape extends the adjacent southern green space. greened terraces, connected by exterior stairs, are designed as "micro-biodiversity forests" with small trees, shrubs, and perennials. the roof areas also serve as retention storage for rainwater. additional unsealed green pockets with tree plantings are created along the building's contour near sterneckstraße.

flexibility of use
the flexible, open office world in timber construction offers communicative zones and flat hierarchies. two independent cores allow various partition scenarios, while voids and central staircases connect the floors functionally and visually. activity zones in the inner corners animate the central area and create communal spaces.
