clear and simple
the design of the new ankerbrotfabrik focuses on reduction and concentrating on the essentials. this approach is also reflected in the colour scheme. the colour white conveys freshness, purity and modernity. the colour red is used sparingly and deliberately as an accent. it marks the main entrance and gives ankerwelt an emotional framework.
setting an example
the red ankerwelt on the ground floor sets a clear example in the direction of sofie-lazarsfeldstraße. this is also where the main entrance for all users of the building is located: production and administration employees, business partners and customers, visitors to ankerwelt and guests of the flagship store.
inner world
the landscaping of the atrium creates a deliberate contrast to the technical working environment. a ‘primordial landscape’ serves as a metaphorical image for the primordial foodstuff bread. both are archaic images from our collective memory. the inner courtyard becomes an emotional link between all stakeholders. it also provides light and a view for all employees of the new anker bread factory.
shared heart
the central atrium forms the shared heart of the complex. all functions, such as production, social rooms, ankerwelt, flagship store, training room, canteen and administration, are oriented towards this centre. employees, visitors and customers are part of the inner world. the building creates its own atmosphere, making itself independent.
clear separation
traffic flows between customers and visitors on the one hand and employees and suppliers on the other are clearly separated, with no intersections. customers and visitors are picked up at sofie-lazarsfeldstraße and are directed straight to the main entrance. the staff car park in the basement offers 190 parking spaces. the bypass for lorries ensures efficient delivery and collection.
potential for expansion
the expansion of the optional area in the south does not interfere with existing production processes or the bypass route for trucks. visitor traffic on sofie-lazarsfeldstraße also remains undisturbed – the street frontage remains unchanged in the event of an expansion. any additional administrative space required could be created above the goods entrance facing the courtyard.
uniform appearance
the glass façades of the administrative wing are fronted by perforated trapezoidal sheet metal on the street side. this provides sun protection and contributes to the uniform appearance of the new ankerbrot factory. in this way, lighting openings can also be created in the production hall – even retrospectively – without interrupting the outer shell.
