green parking

parking spaces, well camouflaged
The new parking structure on the westside of the JKU campus replaces parking spaces lost due to the construction of the "House of Schools" building. With its compact form and open design, it provides approximately 550 new parking spots, concealed behind a façade that will become increasingly lush with greenery over time. A network covered with climbing plants ensures dense vegetation, while poles support the various types of vines as they grow upward. Additionally, the rooftop features a green pergola.

functional and sustainable design
The modular steel skeleton construction offers flexibility and durability. The open, green façade ensures natural ventilation and blends seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. Rainwater is sustainably absorbed into infiltration basins and soil filter ponds, meeting the requirements of the local water conservation area.

flexible for the future
With increased ceiling height on the ground floor and the load-bearing capacity of the top parking deck, the structure is designed with future repurposing in mind. Temporary or long-term alternative uses, such as events, are possible and can be complemented by technical adaptations.
