living above a shopping centre
based on the subject of "space-saving" residential development, a pilot project was created in which a residential building is to be built on the roof of a large shopping centre for the first time in vienna.
the project has the form of a “square courtyard”. the resulting inner courtyard offers numerous places to stay and also serves as an access zone. the residential complex comprises a total of 71 residential units from around 55 sqm to just over 100 sqm with sufficient car and bicycle parking spaces.
in the north and south, the apartments are accessed via an arcade, in the east and west there are maisonette apartments that are accessed from the courtyard. the orientation of the living spaces is always in the direction of the inner courtyard. a common room and baby buggy storage rooms are also taken into account in the planning.
