comprehensive thermal refurbishment

the juridicum at johannes kepler university (JKU) reopened on june 16th, 2026 following a comprehensive thermal refurbishment and is now energy-efficient, green and climate-friendly. querkraft transformed the building by modernising the façade and roof, installing new cooling and heating systems, and creating a striking green façade that connects the sections of the building dating from 1970 and 2010. additional planting and suspended trees improve the microclimate and make a strong architectural statement. the modernisation supports JKU’s goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2030 and provides students and staff alike with a contemporary learning and working environment.
