an office building as an eye-catcher
the project brief was to design a showroom, office, warehouse, and workshop. the site is challenging due to its sloping terrain. as a result, the client expressed the desire for the building to act as an eye-catcher along the main road. additionally, the head of the company initially wished to locate his office on the roof of the building.
instead of extensive excavation and the construction of large retaining walls, the building is conceived to hover above the site. the director’s office is not placed on the roof, as this would imply excessive hierarchy. instead, it remains on the same level as the employees’ offices—slightly elevated and with a distinctive view. the entrance, located on the opposite side of the building, serves as the project’s key dramaturgical element.
