contented open space for residents

the proposed building structure follows the existing environment in terms of grain and typology and tries to absorb and strengthen its qualities. the development is formed by 2 typologies. the arrangement of the building enables the interlocking with the open space, the creation of differentiated outdoor spaces and the visual permeability.

the rural surroundings provide the framework for the design of the open space. the open space takes the essential features from this open and simple landscape structure and interweaves them with the environment. meadows flow around the loose building structure, adjoining the north-eastern grassland and the open spaces of Sebastian Kneipp Strasse. the northern grove continues in dense groups of trees. under the trees and in the clearings, children and young people can play a little away from the buildings.

an urban, multifunctional square becomes the new, public center, not only of the settlement, but of the entire surrounding urban space. structured by square fields, it can be played on over a large area or adapted to everyday, small-scale uses. a cafe, a pharmacy and a bicycle kitchen create an attractive offer. there is space for a sidewalk café, a "village fountain" and benches under the trees, as well as bicycle storage facilities and parking spaces.

the openness of the development does not seal off and allows visual relationships. meadows represent the overarching connecting element. various types of trees support the differentiated open space. the grove continues to the north-east, the entree square is accentuated with urban trees.

fruit trees are interspersed in the surface of the access zone, which come together to form an orchard, define the central access space and give it a special atmosphere. a fruit kitchen with a press house invites you to process the harvest together. a vegetable and herb garden in the north-east of the property completes the offer.

an urban square forms the entrance to a semi-public development area, which is characterized by a striking change in flooring. a pavement made of large-format, polygonal slabs opens up the buildings and connects them with each other. the slabs form an oscillating surface with small squares in front of the communal facilities.

wide L-shaped seating and planting elements create the necessary distance between development and private living areas. planting them with evergreen shrubs provides additional privacy. in the areas facing away from development, L-shaped hedge elements form a private frame.

the urban development is formed by 2 typologies: dot and L. the compact structures allow efficient development, different apartment typologies and create manageable social units between 12 and 16 apartments.

south-facing roof areas are laid over the building. this enables the integration of solar elements in the roof areas and also creates a soundproofing buffer against aircraft noise. the interfaces to the facades create a lively play of gable surfaces.

the arrangement of the units enables the double orientation of the apartments across the corner and thus an increase in the number of hours of sunshine per apartment.
